Ok so today at skate practice I was getting off the ice to take a water break. I was putting my guards on when I noticed a little girl who was struggling with her guards. I asked if she needed help and she said yes. After I put her guards on, I asked her what her name was and she told me. From that point on I was practically her best friend. We both were taking a water break and she went up to her mom and told her that someone helped her put her guards on. The mom was thankful too. We both went back on the ice and did our own thing. After the session was over I went back to get my guards and the little girl was sitting there. I said bye to her because I was leaving for the night. She kept asking me where I was going and I told her I was leaving. She said bye and bunch of other stuff (I couldn’t make out half the stuff she said lol). I left the ice to put my skates up. About 5 minutes later she came out of the rink just to give me a hug and tell me bye. Over and over and over again. I know this may sound like a stupid story but this legitimately warmed my heart. All I did was help this little girl put her skate guards on and all of a sudden I was her best friend and role model. This just proves that little things can make a huge impact. It made me so happy ☺️❤️
